My Story

Dr. Kelli Palfy, a distinguished former RCMP officer with an extensive background in corrections and specialized experience in sex crimes investigation, is an integral member of the VRFY team. Her transition from law enforcement to academia led to a Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology, with her research shedding light on the complexities surrounding the disclosure of sexual abuse among males.

At VRFY, Dr. Palfy brings her expertise to the forefront of mental health advocacy, focusing on the impact of trauma exposure through transcription work. Her role is pivotal in informing the VRFY platform’s development to ensure that it mitigates the risk of vicarious trauma among law enforcement personnel engaged in the transcription of sensitive materials. By incorporating therapeutic modalities such as Emotion-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Techniques, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she guides the platform's user experience to support the mental well-being of users.

Dr. Palfy's commitment to trauma therapy and her advisory positions with The Male Survivor Organization in New York and The Little Warriors Treatment Facility in Edmonton enhance VRFY's dedication to compassionate technology. Her insights are crucial in ensuring that VRFY not only excels in operational efficiency but also prioritizes the psychological safety of its users, particularly those handling distressing content.
